Dubai – July 2^nd, 2009: the American University in the Emirates (AUE) and Dubai Media Inc. (DMI) have signed an accord that would constitute endeavors related to student internship, professional development, research, workshops and training sessions. 

The event was attended by His Excellency Mohammed Saleh bin Badwa Al Darmaki, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at AUE, Prof. Muthanna Abdulrazzaq, the AUE President and a number of university leaders, academic scholars, students, faculty and staff, and representatives of the local media. 

At the beginning of the press conference, His Excellency Mohammed Saleh bin Badwa Al Darmaki extended his warm welcome to the representatives of DMI and the media.  Particularly, he expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Ahmed Al Shiakh for his involvement in the University, particularly in extending the assistance to the College of Media and Mass Communication for upgrading its facilities and equipments for Radio and TV courses to facilitate learning and hands on training.

The university has been offering training sessions for professional development of DMI employees in different specializations.  His Excellency emphasized that bridging the gap between the educational and business sectors is both of vital importance and mutual benefit both institutions.  Based on such belief, the university has strived to achieve this objective and today, it has yielded its fruits due to the continuous efforts of both leadership.

On the other hand, Professor Muthanna Ghani Abdul Razzaq, President of the AUE has pointed out that the signed accord will enable students to discover the opportunities available in the job market and what skills and experience are required for them to succeed.  Professor Muthanna has reiterated that AUE has opened its doors to DMI employees to participate and attend continuous education programs at AUE to enhance their abilities in the field of Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Marketing and Communication skills.  Moreover, the University discount fees will be offered to all DMI employees if in case they would like to pursue further Associate, Bachelor’s and Graduate degree specializations being offered at AUE.

The Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dean of Media and Mass Communication, Prof. Nabeel Jurdi has indicated that the College of Media and Mass Communication has earned an accreditation from the Commission of Academic Accreditation (CAA) for its AA degree in the fields of Public Relations, International Relations, Radio and TV and Journalism.  Just recently, the College has received accreditation for the Bachelor’s degree in two specializations namely: Public Relations and International Relations.
