Message from the Director
Welcome to the English Language Institute!
ELI is a highly professional, devoted, and
sincere educational entity within the American
University in the Emirates (AUE).
The ELI is committed to provide good quality
learning techniques in the curriculum area by
offering the best possible services to students
enrolled in the program. The Institute will
ensure that all students are offered full
support and continued professional growth that
meet and comply with local and international
standards designed to promote any intensive
English program.
The ELI at AUE adopts the direct method in
teaching English conducted in CALL Labs using
state-of-art technology. This effective method
is sought to fully engage the learner in the
same way as when he\she learnt the first native
language. Grammar is taught through the related
subject/meaning. The focus is on using English
accurately and efficiently.
With its clearly defined mission statement,
organizational objectives and strategic
educational resources and services, along with
qualified professional staff, ELI plans to be
one of the best English language centers in the
United Arab Emirates.
The ELI is offering intensive English language
courses for students, staff members and for
those who feel the need for further improvement
in their English language skills. Focusing on
certain details, and the effective use of
resources, the ELI promises to provide valuable
learning experiences and programs that suit the
learners’ needs and abilities. ELI hires
qualified and experienced workforce who offer
expertise in the fields of English for academic
purposes, English for Specific Purposes, English
language testing, and general proficiency
development. The ELI has set a clear target for
improvement of students’ achievements in TOEFL
and IELTS tests using advanced technology to
assess their progress. As an official licensed
iBT and PBT TOEFL testing centre, we are happy
also to offer students all related services.
